Maryellen's Brown Sugar Caramels

Ingredients

2 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar

1 cup dark Karo syrup

1 can sweetened condensed milk

1 cup butter

1 tsp salt

Nuts (pecans, walnuts, or almonds)

Directions

Butter heavily a 9x13 baking pan. Chop nuts and spread in pas, set aside.

Melt butter, add sugar, stir. When sugar is blended add Karo and milk. Add salt. Cook to the soft call stage (234) while stirring constantly.

Remove from heat and pour over nuts in prepared pan.

Let mixture cool. Cut into 3/4" squares and wrap in waxed paper.
